Barnardo's in Westminster

Working with government to achieve better outcomes for more children.

As the UK’s largest national children’s charity we work with central and local government to achieve better outcomes for more children.

Champion children in parliament

We know young people want to be heard. You can champion their voices in Parliament by:

and in your local community by:

  • visiting a Barnardo’s service
  • volunteering in a shop
  • attending a local event
  • Holding a virtual conversation with young constituents aged 16-25

During the pandemic it may not be possible to visit our services, shops or events, but we’ve put together a toolkit on how you can support children and families in your constituency.

Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Webinar

In October 2020 Barnardo’s hosted a webinar on children’s mental health focusing on the importance of having a 0-25 system free from tiers and thresholds and inclusive of alternative and digital therapies. Chaired by Barnardo’s CEO Javed Khan, we were joined the Minister for Mental Health, Nadine Dorries MP; Kadra Abdinasir, Head of the Centre for Mental Health’s Children and Young People's Programme; Benjamin Fry, Psychotherapist and Author; and young people supported by Barnardo’s.
